What You Need

pkg. (2-layer size) yellow cake mix with pudding in the mix

1-1/4

cups water

1/4

cup oil

eggs

OREO Cookies, coarsely chopped (about 2 cups), divided

cups sliced fresh strawberries plus 8 whole strawberries

tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

Make It

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Beat cake mix, water, oil and eggs in large bowl with electric mixer on low speed until moistened. Beat 2 min. on medium speed. Stir in 1/2 cup of the chopped cookies. Pour evenly into 2 greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans.

BAKE 25 to 30 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 min.; remove from pans. Cool completely.

ADD 1 cup of the chopped cookies and the sliced strawberries to whipped topping in large bowl; stir gently. Place 1 of the cake layers on serving plate; spread with half of the whipped topping mixture. Cover with second cake layer; spread top with remaining whipped topping mixture. Sprinkle with remaining chopped cookies just before serving. Garnish with whole strawberries. Store in refrigerator.

I made this cake for my son's 11th birthday. He wanted something different than just chocolate cake, so he decided he wanted a cake with strawberries and chocolate. I love this site! The cake turned out so moist & totally "yummy". Everyone at his party wanted 2nd slices! It was totally a hit! The picture shows just frosting the center and top of the cake, but I frosted all around so the cake was frosted all around too. Just changed the amount of cool whip to 12 oz (bought a 16oz tub & used 3/4 of it), used 3 cups of sliced strawberries, & 22 oreo cookies that I crushed using a mortar & pestle set to make oreo crumbs. Also, refrigerate the cake for several hours or overnight before serving. The cool whip frosting will be cold that way when you serve it and won't soften so quickly.

I made this for Valentine's Day and it was very easy to make. Everyone loved it. I did coat the strawberries in powdered sugar to make them sweetier. It was beautiful.

Oh my goodness!!!! I made this recipe for Father's Day and my whole family enjoyed it. I added Cheesecake flavored Cream Cheese to the Cool Whip mixture and it was delicious! I made two for a fairly large crowd and one of the cakes were gone before dinner was even served!!! Easy to make even if you don't know your way around the kitchen:-)

I love this cake....I'm not much of a sweets eater so it's hard to find a dessert I like. This was great because it wasn't too sweet.....a cool and refreshing dessert. Have made it twice. I made it as a sheet cake instead of a layer cake.

I made this desert for a recent dinner party I had, everyone absolutely loved it even the kids, actually most especially the kids, I will definitely make this cake part of my dessert line up for Christmas dinner.

I picked this cake for my sister's Birthday cake, however she isn't that big of a fan of oreo's so I left them out and made it a Strawberry short cake. MY sister said it was the best cake; strawberry shortcake that she had ever had, I definately agree!
