My daughter loved this cake. However I made alterations like using frosting adding more decorations and putting a plastic bowl where the jello goes to make sure the jello didnt seep into the cake. It was such a success Im making it for her bday this year too. Excellent idea

I made my own yellow cake & added sprinkles to the batter. I also used homemade pudding in the middle as the "pool." It was still very good. Looked really cute too!!!!

I made this for my daughters 6th B-day. We had a swim party. It was soo cute she loved it. My aunt had brought a store bought cake. Mine tasted better. My only advise would be to not put the gummy sharks or fish in the jello until it is almost set up. They start to melt away.

This was a really good recipe, I loved just having the cool whip as the frost but sometimes its hard to frost but my little cousins just loved this cake. Make sure you leave the jello in the fridge for an hour and 40 mins because the jello doesnt soak thru your cake when you pour it into the pool! also putting fish in the jello is a bad idea because they dont absorb the jello making them purple mushy fish! Besides that this cake isnt hard to do! Just have fun with it because it takes a long while!

I made this for my "Senior Splash" water aerobics class summer picnic with gummy sharks in the water - they loved it - and it was delicious - keep it cool if its going to a picnic!

I strongly recommend using a cake frosting instead of the cool whip. It was not easy to frost.

I really liked the way this cake looked. My daughter and me had fun making the cake but we didn't like the taste. I wanted to make it for her birthday lucky I made it first. I also let some of the neighborhood kids try it out. No luck they just played in it. When I told them they didn't have to eat it they throw their plates away. I really like the idea of this cake. I'm going to try and make it with pudding in the middle and use cake icing around the border. I'm doing to do like a dirt cup in the middle. lol I'm going to try it on my dad for father's day.

I made this for my daughter's preschool and now for her end of the year party for second grade. Everyone loved it. Please make sure you have a refrigerator to put the cake in if not immediately served. The jello starts to melt. Everyone loved the cake and it gathers alot of attention.

I made a cake with jello two years ago for my daughters first birthday but I use a plastic clear lid I got from muffins I had bought. I turned the lid up down and filled it with blue jell-o ,I then cut out the center of the cake in same shape and depth as the lid and placed it in the hole.then I placed a little mermaid figure half way in. I used kabob sticks to hold the figure places the sticks across lid use frosting to hold sticks on each side of figure remove then when jell-o is firm.
