What You Need

cups chopped PLANTERS Pecans, divided

1/4

cup granulated sugar

1/4

cup butter or margarine, melted

pkg. (14 oz.) KRAFT Caramels

2/3

cup whipping cream, divided

pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, broken into pieces

1/4

cup powdered sugar

1/2

tsp. vanilla

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

BLEND 2 cups nuts in blender until finely ground, using pulsing action. Mix with granulated sugar and butter; press onto bottom and up side of 9-inch pie plate. Bake 12 to 15 min. or until lightly browned. (If crust puffs up during baking, gently press down with back of spoon.) Cool completely.

MICROWAVE caramels and 1/3 cup whipping cream in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2-1/2 to 3 min. or until caramels are completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after each minute. Pour into crust. Chop remaining nuts; sprinkle over caramel layer.

COOK chocolate, remaining whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla in saucepan on low heat just until chocolate is completely melted, stirring constantly. Pour over pie; spread to cover top of pie. Refrigerate 2 hours.

Will be making this pie today for the second time. Very rich, very good. Chocolate does harden to the point of needing a very sharp knife to cut it, but it comes out looking just like the picture and is a chocolate lover's delight.

I made this pie for Easter and it was a huge success. Everyone raved about it. VERY good. VERY RICH. A small piece will satisfy your sweet tooth.

This is a great pie to make when you want something as decadent as fudge & cheesecake but in a pie. This was a huge hit at Thanksgiving in place of a regular pecan pie. I made it b/c I'm not a big fan of the traditional pecan pie but this was sweet, gooey, chocolatey---very good.

Great recipe!!!! I used a little more cream with the chocolate to make a bit smoother and creamier. The first one was hard to cut. Also, made it in a 13 X 9 pan and cut into bars instead of pie slices. Everyone raved and several asked for the recipe to make and give as gifts.
