What You Need

cups chopped PLANTERS Pecans, divided

1/4

cup granulated sugar

1/4

cup butter or margarine, melted

pkg. (14 oz.) KRAFT Caramels

2/3

cup whipping cream, divided

pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, broken into pieces

1/4

cup powdered sugar

1/2

tsp. vanilla

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

BLEND 2 cups nuts in blender until finely ground, using pulsing action. Mix with granulated sugar and butter; press onto bottom and up side of 9-inch pie plate. Bake 12 to 15 min. or until lightly browned. (If crust puffs up during baking, gently press down with back of spoon.) Cool completely.

MICROWAVE caramels and 1/3 cup whipping cream in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2-1/2 to 3 min. or until caramels are completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after each minute. Pour into crust. Chop remaining nuts; sprinkle over caramel layer.

COOK chocolate, remaining whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla in saucepan on low heat just until chocolate is completely melted, stirring constantly. Pour over pie; spread to cover top of pie. Refrigerate 2 hours.

I loved this recipe. It was just like eating a large turtle. I would cool the caramel before pouring the chocolate over the top next time. My center had a very thick chocolate layer. Very rich, and worth the calorie ect. arline33

I made this pie for Thanksgiving to take to my sisters house. As rich as it was, it was devoured when it was time for dessert. I even did one substituting Walnuts for the pecans. Instead of smoothing the chocolate on top, I drizzled it so it had more of an appealing look.

I thought this was way to rich. I also had a problem with making two seperate layers. All of the caramels filled up the pie crust and the chocolate just overflowed. I would cut the amount of caramel and chocolate in half.

this was very decadent. too rich for my family, but great as a gift or a take along. the pecan crust was the best part and i will use that again on recipes calling for graham cracker crusts.

I made this for a football tailgate. I did not bring any home. Was a great hit. Was a little sweet and heavy for my taste (which surprised me) but was a keeper.

I could not believe how good this pie was. No only is it simple to make but would rather make this than a cheese cake anyday. It was as good as any cheesecake I have ever eaten. It is rich tho.

This recipe was a hit both at my work and family Thanksgiving dinner. I have passed the recipe on to friends. After being refrigerated for 24 hours I set the pies out two hours before our meal was served for easier slicing.
