What You Need

cups chopped PLANTERS Pecans, divided

1/4

cup granulated sugar

1/4

cup butter or margarine, melted

pkg. (14 oz.) KRAFT Caramels

2/3

cup whipping cream, divided

pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, broken into pieces

1/4

cup powdered sugar

1/2

tsp. vanilla

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

BLEND 2 cups nuts in blender until finely ground, using pulsing action. Mix with granulated sugar and butter; press onto bottom and up side of 9-inch pie plate. Bake 12 to 15 min. or until lightly browned. (If crust puffs up during baking, gently press down with back of spoon.) Cool completely.

MICROWAVE caramels and 1/3 cup whipping cream in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2-1/2 to 3 min. or until caramels are completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after each minute. Pour into crust. Chop remaining nuts; sprinkle over caramel layer.

COOK chocolate, remaining whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla in saucepan on low heat just until chocolate is completely melted, stirring constantly. Pour over pie; spread to cover top of pie. Refrigerate 2 hours.

I made this for Thanksgiving. Even the folks who were " too full" for dessert were persuaded to try just a little taste. Everyone loved it. I added a few teaspoons of granulated sugar to the chocolate topping, after reading in previous ratings that the semi-sweet chocolate might be a bit intense. Once cut, the caramel tends to ooze. Refrigerating is important.

For those of you who said it was too rich.. sweet... too many calories.. must not cook much. All you have to do is simply look at the ingredients. I sounds yummy, and I definitely plan to make it!

I really enjoyed how the caramel mixed with the pecans and chocolate. It made the chocolate taste alot sweeter than it really taste. Is there any was to make this pie using milk chocolate instead of the semi-sweet chocolate? If so, please e-mail me.

OH MY GOD!!! Im in heaven. Totally luscious, and sooo easy to make. Loved every bit of it, the pecan crust is well worth making, only takes moments in the food processor. This recipe is so easy and tastes fabulous. An absolute winner!
