What You Need

cups chopped PLANTERS Pecans, divided

1/4

cup granulated sugar

1/4

cup butter or margarine, melted

pkg. (14 oz.) KRAFT Caramels

2/3

cup whipping cream, divided

pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, broken into pieces

1/4

cup powdered sugar

1/2

tsp. vanilla

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

BLEND 2 cups nuts in blender until finely ground, using pulsing action. Mix with granulated sugar and butter; press onto bottom and up side of 9-inch pie plate. Bake 12 to 15 min. or until lightly browned. (If crust puffs up during baking, gently press down with back of spoon.) Cool completely.

MICROWAVE caramels and 1/3 cup whipping cream in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2-1/2 to 3 min. or until caramels are completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after each minute. Pour into crust. Chop remaining nuts; sprinkle over caramel layer.

COOK chocolate, remaining whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla in saucepan on low heat just until chocolate is completely melted, stirring constantly. Pour over pie; spread to cover top of pie. Refrigerate 2 hours.

I made this for my co-workers, who are true chocoholics and sweet eaters and they loved it! Three of them wanted the recipe. My boss wanted to know if I had another one at home to bring in.

This pie is fabulous! It is similar to the "turtle" candies. It is very sweet, very rich and very good. Coworkers and family loved it. A definite keeper! The pecan crust is simply out of this world, not to mention that thick layer of chocolate on the top pf the pie! I find that women have a greater appreciation for this pie than the men! Just my experience!

This recipe sounds simply decadent! I will make it for Thanksgiving but I plan to make a homemade "cookie" crust that uses a smaller amount of pecans.

I Have a chocolate loving family, I took this over to a family dinner and just about didn,t get a piece for myself. They all thought it was great. All of them wanted the recipie. I Plan on putting it into a christmas newsletter to them.

Yummy. I didn't serve this as the main desert, but as a candy later that night- worked out well. It was a little more work than I thought. Very rich and sweet, perfect for the 12:00 sweet tooth. I would make it again for the holidays especially
