What You Need

cups chopped PLANTERS Pecans, divided

1/4

cup granulated sugar

1/4

cup butter or margarine, melted

pkg. (14 oz.) KRAFT Caramels

2/3

cup whipping cream, divided

pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, broken into pieces

1/4

cup powdered sugar

1/2

tsp. vanilla

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

BLEND 2 cups nuts in blender until finely ground, using pulsing action. Mix with granulated sugar and butter; press onto bottom and up side of 9-inch pie plate. Bake 12 to 15 min. or until lightly browned. (If crust puffs up during baking, gently press down with back of spoon.) Cool completely.

MICROWAVE caramels and 1/3 cup whipping cream in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2-1/2 to 3 min. or until caramels are completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after each minute. Pour into crust. Chop remaining nuts; sprinkle over caramel layer.

COOK chocolate, remaining whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla in saucepan on low heat just until chocolate is completely melted, stirring constantly. Pour over pie; spread to cover top of pie. Refrigerate 2 hours.

I made this for thanksgiving, but because I kept it in the refrigerator so long, it just didn't look easy to eat and went untouched (silly me, carmel hardens when it's cold!). After we took it home and I left it out for a short time to soften, WOW! it's very rich so be ready with a glass of milk near by, but it is so wonderful. How coud something so easy be so great? Needless to say I'm making it again for todays party.. and if no one eats it... that just means more for me!!! :)

I was not very impressed with this recipe. It was sooooo sweet and the chocolate was just too overpowering. I will try to make this recipe again and try to tweak it a bit. Make the chocolate lighter and possibly not use the semisweet chips like I did last time.

It was very good and very differant. By adding the chocolate it really added a taste that was out of this world. I love pecan pie to start with and this gave it a superb taste. Our whole family really liked it, it was something new to try, at all our get to gethers I try to make a new recipe to find out if the kids and grandkids like it or not. This one gets 5 stars in our book!

This is the best pie that I have ever made. My husbands family are big pecan nuts but I think it is boring to make the same ol pecan pie every thanksgiving and xmas. I don't even like pecans but I will fight someone for the last piece of this awesomely sweet pie.
