What You Need

cups chopped PLANTERS Pecans, divided

1/4

cup granulated sugar

1/4

cup butter or margarine, melted

pkg. (14 oz.) KRAFT Caramels

2/3

cup whipping cream, divided

pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, broken into pieces

1/4

cup powdered sugar

1/2

tsp. vanilla

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

BLEND 2 cups nuts in blender until finely ground, using pulsing action. Mix with granulated sugar and butter; press onto bottom and up side of 9-inch pie plate. Bake 12 to 15 min. or until lightly browned. (If crust puffs up during baking, gently press down with back of spoon.) Cool completely.

MICROWAVE caramels and 1/3 cup whipping cream in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2-1/2 to 3 min. or until caramels are completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after each minute. Pour into crust. Chop remaining nuts; sprinkle over caramel layer.

COOK chocolate, remaining whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla in saucepan on low heat just until chocolate is completely melted, stirring constantly. Pour over pie; spread to cover top of pie. Refrigerate 2 hours.

I made this pie for thanksgiving and everyone loved it and wanted the recipe! However, I felt it was too rich and when I made it again to bring to a christmas party, I used 5 semi-sweet squares instead of the 8 it called for. It was again delicious, and again many wanted my recipe!

It is absolutely delicious but VERY rich. The second time I made it I put it in a square pan (9X9) and cut it in pieces. Everyone liked it better that way

My aunt made this recipe on Thanksgiving. It caramel made the pie fantastic. The only problem I had with the pie was that the chocolate was really rich. Overall a one of my favorite pies!

I used a pre-made graham cracker crust, with 2 cups of crushed pecans pressed into the caramel mix (not just sprinkled on).

I thought the pie was very hard to chew..almost like a candy bar that could be picked up and eaten. The chocolate on the top was very hard.

My sister made this for Thanksgiving. OMG!, it is so wonderful. Now I'm making it for Christmas. Garnishing the top of the pie with pecans make for a little more attraction. (like it needs it)

this was very easy to make and quite the hit! i'm making some for Christmas presents. i cut it into 12 slices because it was rich and loaded with calories- but worth every one.
