This was an epic fail in my house. Cinnamon and nutmeg does not belong in this recipe. I may try it again without it.
This dish is easy but labor intensive, we loved it! I doubled the parm, made a double batch and it freezes wonderfully! The 2nd one I cooled completely, did not bake, then froze. I made it just like it asked, but did add some crushed red pepper to the red sauce and lots of salt & pepper & nutmeg to the white sauce. Just delicious!
Everyone LOVED it! The kids and my husband couldn't get enough! Good thing I doubled the recipe.
Fantastic when recipe is followed to the letter! I used Cinnamon and Nutmeg as called for - great combination with ground beef. My ultra picky family went back for seconds and said it was a definite do over. I am no cook but this was well worth the time and effort.
When I made this recipe I added red onion, green and red bell peppers, chives, and garlic to the meat. Good way to "hide" vegetables. I also used shredded cheese in the meat and over pasta. Very good and can easily be made healthier.
I made this for my family. It turned out great! I layered it wrong by putting the mac and cheese on top. I think for our family with a picky eater it turned out better. I am pondering for the next time I make it to try it with a little Ranch dressing.
It was delicious! My husband and I loved it & my two year old had two plate fulls! & she's a picky eater. I used Italian seasoning instead of cinnamon & nutmeg. I also added some garlic salt to taste. I will definitely make this again!
I added chopped green pepper and extra onion and spices to the meat mixture. My kids really liked it but my husband didn't comment and kept looking at it funny. It is a lot of work and dirty dishes for a not so great meal. I think it should be made in an 11x7 and it needs to cool for a while after it comes out of the oven so it can set before cutting and serving.
Easy, really quick-after work meal! Family loves the flavor and it is filling too.
Very good with the cinn and nutmeg. My husband even liked it. He didn't even know the topping was made with eggs. We ate it all up in 2 days.
