This is a great recipe and for those of you finding the recipe coming out runny, you aren't using INSTANT pudding. It HAS to be instant or it won't thicken. If you find yourself in a predicament and you don't have the instant pudding and only have the cook and serve, you can microwave it in the microwave for 2 minutes, then stir and microwave for another 2 minutes and stir, then refrigerate until cool and then fold in the cool whip.

I've made pudding frosting for about 20 years and never added the milk or powered sugar. Small box of pudding (any favor) and tub of cool whip - whipped together. Just great!

I just have no idea happened, but this recipe ended up being like a glass of chocolate water with its thickness. We tried refrigeration, and we also added more powdered sugar. Nothing worked and the flavor ended up ruined from all the sugar. Seeing the other reviews, I have no idea what happened.

I made ths for the first time last weekend. I've been baking for over 50 years and can honestly say this is the best frosting I've ever made. It's light, fluffy and delicious. When you're working with a whipped topping be sure you're not preparing it in a kitchen that is too hot or humid. I suspect this would cause the runny frosting that a couple of people wrote about. Everyone wanted the recipe and said it was melt-in-your-mouth good!

Very very runny. Used it for a smash cake for my son but the frosting was so runny!

Quick, easy, and so delicious. I have used this recipe with many flavors of pudding and they all turned out great.

I use this recipe all the time, always wonderful, but I want to comment on the last time. I made cheese cake cupcakes but wanted to decorate it like a cake so I put them together on a big plate and frosted them with this recipe with vanilla pudding. It was amazing. More then 5 stars.

This was great! I loved that it was sweet but not overly so.

The first time I made this, it was great, very light and sweet. The second time I decided to make it for my baby shower, unfortunately i don't know what went wrong. It just did not take form, I went out of my way and added a whole bunch of powdered sugar but it still did not take shape so we could not frost my cupcakes. went ahead with just heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar. I could not bring myself to throw it out so instead I just refrigerated it and wa-la...it turned out. so if anyone has this problem, try to refridgerate it first before frosting.
