What You Need

pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER'S Unsweetened Chocolate

1-3/4

cups sugar, divided

1/2

cup water

1-2/3

cups flour

tsp. baking soda

1/4

tsp. salt

1/2

cup butter or margarine, softened

eggs

3/4

cup milk

tsp. vanilla

Easy Chocolate Frosting

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

MICROWAVE chocolate, 1/2 cup sugar and water in large microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 min. or until chocolate is almost melted, stirring after 1 min. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Cool.

MIX flour, baking soda and salt. Beat butter and remaining sugar in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each until well blended. Beat in flour mixture alternately with milk. Add chocolate mixture and vanilla; mix well. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch round pans.

BAKE 30 to 35 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 min.; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Fill and frost with Easy Chocolate Frosting.

I made this for a birthday and now everyone wants this cake for their birthday. It is very moist and great flavor.

I made this recipe on our first wedding anniversary. I am glad that the cake was so delicious. My husband simply loved it. A must try for everyone.

DELICIOUS and SO moist! Baked it for the first time for a birthday party and got so many compliments. Instead of the 3/4 cups milk, I put 1/2 cup Bailey's Irish Creme and only 1/4 cup milk. This added some great flavor. My only complaint is that the cake is SO moist that one layer stuck to my pan and was very difficult to work with. I highly recommend lining the bottom of the pans with parchment paper for this recipe.

I made this to take to work for my boss's birthday and everyone, including my boss, just loved it! The icing was a little tough to spread, so I whipped a little more milk into it to make it creamier. It went on just fine after that.

This was a big hit for my dads birthday. Everyone keeps asking me to make it for them for their birthday. Was very easy, I had everything right in my cupboard. I will be making this again.
