After reading all reviews, here's what I did to make this taste awesome. Dice an onion (can add garlic too if desired) and brown meat w/ a little salt/pepper. Cook 2 boxes of mac and cheese separate (yes, two boxes will be better than one if you have two). Add 1 tblsp sour cream to mac and cheese when finished and mix it in. Add 1/2 taco mix to ground beef (don't add more or overdo it, will be too strong) add a bit of water (1/2 cup to a cup) to mix it, add 1 to 2 tblspn Heinz ketchup (it will taste good, don't worry), and three tablespoons salsa to ground beef and mix altogether. Finally, add mac and cheese to ground beef (or ground beef mix to mac and cheese pan). Viola, you're done! It tastes amazing - husband and I both loved it!

All I can say is WOW! I added in onions, a clove of garlic, and a jalapeno pepper while I was browning the meat, and it made a huge difference! I also doubled up everything to make more, and I used more salsa. I will definitely make this again and my husband loved it!

After finding this recipe and reading reviews, I decided to make it for dinner tonight. I also substituted a half pack of taco seasoning in place of the chili powder, garlic powder, and cumin. I added some hot pepper flakes, but will only add a dash the next time I make this. My husband, our 2 year old, and I liked this meal. I will probably add cheese as a topping next time, too.

I used 2 boxes of macaroni, and added a tiny bit of Velveeta, I kept everything else pretty much the same. My kids (2 1/2 and 15 months) loved it! I thought it was going to be on the bland side, but it was very flavorful!

Since I didn't have all the spices on hand either I used a full envelope of Taco Bell Taco Seasoning with 1 pound of ground beef. I also added about a quarter cup of salsa to the beef as well. I used 2 boxes of mac and cheese and it was a little too much noodles. We liked this recipe well enough but I like the Taco Bake version much better.

Not spicy at all! Great taco flavor! I actually made mine with ground turkey to make it a little healthier and it was awesome!
