STOVE TOP One-Dish Chicken Bake

STOVE TOP One-Dish Chicken Bake recipe

Comfort food gets even cozier when stuffing is involved. Add chicken and sour cream and you've got a piping-hot reason to run, not walk, to the table.

My husband and I loved this recipe. However, he thought the chicken needed some more flavor and spices before pouring on the soup mixture. Maybe some sage to complement the stuffing, or some other seasonings.

This is a great basic recipe that's easy to jazz up. I poached the chicken with bay leaf and poultry seasoning and used the poaching liquid to moisten the Stove Top with Sage (that my family prefers). Also used Cream of Celery soup with 2 Tbsp minced onion added along with the sour cream. Added the frozen veggies (thawed) too. My family loved it. I will definitely make this again.

Delicious!! Definitely add/season to your own tastes. It's a really forgiving and easy to tailor recipe. I seasoned the chicken well with onion powder, salt and pepper. I added a drained can of cut green beans and corn over the top of the chicken. Upped the sour cream to 1/2 cup and used chicken broth instead of water for the stuffing. I also sprinkled the top with shredded cheddar. Next time I might had a bit of milk to the soup/sour cream mixture to make it a bit saucier.

Everyone liked it but my daughter. It was super easy, but didn't make very much.

I've been making this recipe for years but I switch things up a bit. I halve the amount of chicken & add ham (just a small hamsteak) chopped up into bite sized pieces. I top the sour cream & soup mixture with thawed mixed vegetables (the frozen "Vegetable Melange" from Trader Joe's works really well.) Then I put finely shredded cheddar cheese & bread crumbs on top & cover it with foil before putting it in the oven. Always a favorite & comes out awesome every time!

I made this recipe tonight and my mom thought it was excellent and told me not to lose the recipe. We rate this 5 out of 5 stars. Is tasty as well as easy to prepare.

Everyone loved it. I added peas, carrots, and corn as advised in the recipe, and took advice of other reviews and used chicken stock in place of water to wet my stuffing. I will be trying this again with some other variations and enjoying for a long time!

I have made this the original way and I have also made it with Campbell Chedder Cheese Soup and it is amazing!

I made this doubling the recipe and adding onions, celery, sage and jalepeno to the stuffing mix. I used cream of mushroom AND cream of onion soups and put frozen mixed veggies on top of the chicken. Next time I'd use canned veggies cause the frozen ones were tough. I would cut the chicken into smaller pieces next time as it didn't get done. The entire family LOVED it! I WILL make this one again. Thanks Kraft!

It went over wonderful! My 16month old had two helpings and my husband who is not a casserole fan ate a full bowl and said this is nice on a cold night like tonight. I added corn, carrots, and used cream of celery (since I had no cream mushroom or chicken on hand), also made the stuffing in chicken both, added some plain bread crumbs and cheese on top. Very fast and easy, will make another evening.
