I don't have a grill so I fry my mushrooms in a little olive oil. As the recipe says, be sure to cut the stem off because they're a little sour. Portabellos are a vegetarian's wonder food, and they're good for non-vegetarians too, I suppose.

Spice it up and make it your own! This is an excellent burger. I use my grill pan with this so that I can cook it inside anytime and still have the grilled flavor and those grill marks I love. Sometimes I add balsamic vinegar to the dressing and I like to vary my toppings depending on what I have on hand. I love roasted red peppers on this or thin sliced cucumbers and spicy aoli. It's also great with guacamole and Jarlsberg cheese. Use your imagination and you can't go wrong with this....maybe BBQ sauce and coleslaw is what you like on your "burger"..it's all good!

When trying to cook with less meat and fats this really fits the bill. Taste is wonderful, however, my husband likes it a little spicer so I use red pepper flakes and that brings it up another notch.
