This is a new take on an old favorite. I have made a similar dish in the past with a homemade sun dried tomato dressing that required alot more preparation, so I was thrilled when I saw this "express" version. Everyone enjoyed it but I think the bottled dressing really overpowered the other ingredients. In the future if I don't have time to prepare my original dressing I think I'll use a lite Italian vinaigrette instead. Also, I prefer to use slices of fresh mozzerella to the shredded cheese.

This was used at a church picnic. I sliced all and layered tomato onion and basil only into an airtight container. Before serving I sprinkled with the cheese and poured on LIGHT ITALIAN dressing ( i could not find the suggested dressing). It was fabulous and folks could use the tomato and onion on their burgers or hot dogs.

This recipe rocks!!! I couldn't find the Sundried Vinagrette dressing so I just used a carb free Italian I had at home. It went great with the chicken in gorgonzola cream sauce that I made and my mom and sister loved it. I will definately make it again hopefully with homegrown tomatos next time!
