this was wonderful, and everyone liked it (I have a house full of teens, so this is an accomplishment!!) Will also make this for the 4th of July, and various other holidays with a variety of colors/flavors!

To the person that had a hard time spreading the cool whip, allow your jello layer to harden more then the suggested amount of time. Give it at least an hour, then spread your cool whip. You will be very pleased. This pie is great.

It was very easy to make. To prevent the layers from running together, I let the blue layer set for 15 minutes. I also put about 1&1/2 cups of whipped topping on top of the blue layer. Make sure that you seal the edges well. My family enjoyed it! I can't wait to experiment with other colors.

I must have done something wrong. Can anyone help? How does one spread Cool Whip on liquid jello? When I poured my second layer of jello on top of my Cool Whip it slid beneath my Cool Whip layer leaving an ugly, unpatriotic pie! ~ The recipe instructs you to pour the blue jell-o into pie crust; refrigerate 5 to 10 minutes or until gelatin is set but not firm before you add the cool whip ~ Kraft Kitchens

What about putting the red on the bottom and the blue on top and then you could add star sprinkles for a real american flag? I am going to try this out for my restaurant!!! Happy Memorial Day yall.
