It was a hit at our July 4 get together!

My family loved this pie and so easy to make!

Pretty, but not tasty. Very easy to make. The layers looked great. However, the Jello was the texture of gummy worms or Jigglers - chewy. Also, the blue jello soaked into the crust and made it green.

I too made this "easy" pie for our 4th celebration and it was just a complete mess. Not even my children who eat anything wanted to eat this. I spent over an hour trying to get the layers to set right. Also my crust was very soggy. I have made alot of recipes from this site and have love most of them. This one however was a huge disappointment and I would not recommend wasting time on it.

I made this pie for my family get together at my grandma'a on the sunday after july 4th. I thought it would be a great idea since it was july 4th. So I started making it and it takes alot longer than the recipe says. All the Jello needs to sit longer and make sure your red jello is nice and thick (like the video) because mine wasnt and when i poured it over the cool whip , the cool whip rose to the top. It was horrible. I was upset because it didnt look right. so before i served it i just smoothes a good thick layer of cool whip over the top to cover up my mess. my family loved it though and they said it tasted good. good luck!

No matter how hard I tried after reading other reviews the cool whip floated to the top, the pie crust was soggy and didn't cut right.

M family's consensus was that it was only so-so. It certainly looked good, and the fact that it was red, white and blue made it kind of appealing. The problem was the taste....it was only OK, nothing spectacular (and not nearly as tasty as it looked). Looks certainly can conceive! As far as preparation, I didn't have trouble with the whipping cream layer floating up into the red layer (as some reviewers mentioned). But I did have a problem that I didn't even know about until we finally sliced it up for serving. Apparently, the blue gelatin soaked a bit into the graham crust. Not a huge problem....just made the graham crust a bit chewy and feel "rubbery". Also, pouring the blue gelatin layer caused a small section of crust to give away (which I hadn't noticed at the time). And because of that, the blue gelatin slipped UNDER the crust in that spot. So about 1/4 of the pie had blue gelatin as the bottom layer, then the graham crust, then the whipped cream layer topped with the r

I made this in a trifle bowl instead of pie crust, using 3 packages each flavor. I think the key to red layer is watching video, as you can see what consistancy they are using at that stage, it is definitely thicker, which helps it not gush out. I found that spreading the coolwhip onto bottom layer and making sure it was really "tamped" down, prevented it floating. My Family loved this recipe!

I like this recipe a lot. But definitely did not take me twenty minutes. It almost took an hour. I wanted to make sure that each layer was defined. I let them set longer in the fridge, and that worked much better for me. I did, though, let the red Jello set too long on the sideboard, so it was a little chunky, but still came out okay. I am going to add a little cool whip to the top for decoration, because it is a little plain. Have fun making it!

Simple as pie - No pun intended - It did take the blue section longer to set up - BUT every ones fridge is different some are colder then others, So this could be why people are having such a hard time with it. the cool whip went on like a dream, and the red jello poured on with out issue. it looks great, I added some blueberries, and cut up some straw berries and put it on top, and then took a teaspoon of cool whip and put that in the center - and of course I took a picture but can't add it to this :-( i'll find out in about a hour how well it tastes, I'm taking it to my boyfriends parents house for their cook out. Honestly it couldn't of been any easier and I'm not a baker, if it doesn't come out of a box pretty much pre maid I don't mess it.
