This is so simple and good. I made 2 in 2 days during the 4th of July holiday. I'm already thinking of what flavors to substitute for each holiday to make it again.

My family really liked this dessert. I was surprised at all the praises because it was such a simple dessert. I made it for a picnic, and it traveled well, just don't leave it in the sun! It took me longer to make than it says, but I'm not good with Jell-O, so maybe it was just me.

I made this for a July 4th BBQ, it was a huge success! The chill time is longer than the recipe states, and you have to be patient but it turns out great if you do. I'll defininately make this again!

EVEN THOUGH THE JELLO WAS CHILLED AS DIRECTED / THE COOL WHIP LAYER FLOATED AS SOON AS THE RED JELLO LAYER WAS PUT ON TOP ! IT WAS A MESS

I did not have the problem with the whip cream flooting. Good food definitely takes time. I gave it a longer time to set but my family really enjoyed it. Will make it again and again.

Unlike the two respondents before me, I had great success. I wonder if they watched the video because the recipe does not state to "spoon" the red jello on top of the cool-whip. Also, i did not use sugar free jello so i don't know if that made the difference in the thickness of the jello or not but also make sure that you don't put more than 1/2 cup of ice cubes in or the jello won't thicken. I also tweaked the recipe and everyone thought i was another martha. I took a mylar stencil with stars that circle the border and put cool whip on to make stars on top of the pie. And i used an indivicual star a bit larger in the middle. It was awesome and perfect. Huge success!

i made this for 4th of july n it was a big hit!

I made this a couple of years ago and liked it. I was kind of afraid to try again after reading the comments. I tried letting the red set up a little longer and it seemed to work. I put it in the fridge for about 10 minutes to cool. I also slowly poured the red at the side of the crust so it could gently and slowly run across the cool whip. Did not have any trouble with the Cool Whip floating to the top this way. The blue layer definitely takes about 25 minutes to set up. I bought a deep dish crust as suggested by someone else and I would have to say that is key. Just a little patience and this turned out a lot better than I anticipated!

I agree with the others, I made this and it looks aweful, and it had to sit longer than 10 minutes.
