Slow-Cooker Beef Stroganoff

Your slow cooker does the heavy lifting in our classic beef dish. Just prep some pasta while hearty beef and fresh garlic, onions and mushrooms simmer away.

What You Need

lb. beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch cubes

oz. fresh mushrooms, halved

onion, chopped

clove garlic, minced

cup beef broth

tsp. paprika

tsp. salt

cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream

Tbsp. flour

Tbsp. GREY POUPON Dijon Mustard

pkg. (16 oz.) egg noodles, uncooked

Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley

Make It

PLACE meat, mushrooms, onions and garlic in slow cooker. Add broth, paprika and salt. Cover with lid. Cook on LOW 7 to 8 hours (or on HIGH 5 hours).

MIX sour cream, flour and mustard. Stir into ingredients in slow cooker until well blended. Cook, covered, on LOW 15 min. Meanwhile, cook noodles as directed on package.

DRAIN noodles; place in large serving bowl. Add meat mixture; mix lightly. Sprinkle with parsley.

For More Robust Flavor

Brown meat in 2 to 3 Tbsp. oil in large skillet on medium-high heat before adding to the slow cooker.

We love this recipe. I make it quite often and use Spaghetti Squash instead of Noodles. Very good for Low-Carb Cooking.

I use two cans of beef broth when cooking in the slow cooker. When done, I drain about 1/2 cup off and add the cream cheese. I stir in the cooked noodles and mix it all together about 15 mins before serving. It's a delicious recipe- my husband and friends love it!

I've made this recipe now a handful of times, for different groups of people. Everyone raves about it and I have even had requests for it!! First time I tried the Chive & Onion cream cheese and the next time I tried the Herb & Garlic cream cheese, this I highly recommend. It added an extra flavour pop. The tip a user gave back in December about adding the noodles in at the last 20 minutes of cooking was a genius, I woldn't do it any other way, makes cooking even easier!!!

Very Bland tasting. I added 2 tbs Flour to thicken sauce. Wasn't very creamy. Probably could use some sourcream also. My husband wasn't impressed, so I guess we won't be making this one again.

My husband loves stroganoff! He thought it was wonderful. And, I it was so easy to prepare. The cream cheese gave it a wonderful creamy texture.

The taste was excellent! The broth was a bit thin, I think I will try adding a small amount of flour next time to give it some substance. My kids couldn't get around the idea of there being cream cheese in it - next time I won't tell them! Great recipe.

Great dinner. I put uncooked noodles in the broth about 20 minutes before it was done; they absorbed all the flavoring. I also used sour cream because the cream cheese & chive didn't sound too good. The results were a bit bland but its a great foundation for some flavor experimentation in the future. This one will be made quite often.
