Almond Crescents

Every time I make this people rave about these cookies. I omit the nuts on top and use white chocolate drizzle to make them look more elegant.

What You Need

cups (4 sticks) butter, softened

cup powdered sugar

cups flour

cup ground PLANTERS Almonds

pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, chopped

cup finely chopped pistachios

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

MIX butter and sugar in large bowl with wooden spoon until well blended. Gradually add flour, stirring after each addition until well blended. Stir in nuts.

SHAPE into 2-inch crescents, using 1 Tbsp. dough for each. Place, 2 inches apart, on parchment- or foil-covered baking sheets.

BAKE 12 to 15 min. or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 2 min. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.

MELT chocolate as directed on package. Dip one end of each cookie in chocolate; top with nuts. Return to wire racks; let stand until chocolate is firm.

Variation

For variety, dust the cookies with powdered sugar instead of dipping them in the melted chocolate. Be sure to coat the cookies while they are still warm to ensure an even coating of the sugar.

I had an original recipe form Austria which uses cake flour, granulated sugar that was sifted and vanilla flavor. These cookies were bland.

When I made these, they were crumbly and did not stay together well to coat with chocolate. I also agree with the person who said that they need some flavoring.

These cookies were very easy but they don't have very much of a taste to them so I reccomend buying extra chocolate because the recipe doesn't call for enough.

The recipe needs flavoring (such as 1 1/2 ts of vanilla or almond extract) try it ....Can also cut the recipe in half Note the original recipe appeared on the inside of the Parkay Margarine box in the 70.s Called, Scandinavian Almond Cresents........sooooo easy.........

Good change of pace (especially when making sweets for holiday gift baskets) but I found the flavor of the crescents a little bland. Also, I tried and tried but couldn't get them to look as nice as they did here so the presentation was lacking.

I made this cookies for Christmas 2004 and everyone loved them!! My 14 year old nephew could not stop eating them, they are still asking for more. They are so easy to make.
