I've made these cookies for 2 years now, and this year will be the third. Everybody is always asking me to make these cookies this year, and of course I will. The only problem is that the dough gets crumbly so what I do is microwave butter and rub it on the dough. That does get a little annoying, but the end result is definitely worth it. Anyone of any age can make these cookies. Also, I felt that the brown sugar needed to be added a little more because the first time I made it, it wasn't sweet enough, and it tasted a little funky. So make sure it is sweet enough. Overall I really liked it.
This recipe adds a delicious twist to the regular gingerbread cookie. My daughter has an egg allergy, so baking cookies for her is sometimes challenging. In place of the 1 egg, I substituted 1-1/2 T water, 1-1/2 T oil, and 1 tsp baking powder. The cookie turned out great, and my children loved helping roll & cut the gingerbread people.
This recipe worked fine for me. I actually made the dough in the morning, chilled it all day and baked the cookies at night. The dough rolled out fine. I was a little surprised that the cookies spread out as they baked. Make sure to leave about 1-2" between the cookies before baking. I sent the cookies to school with my 3rd grade daughter for her Fairy Tale Ball event. Everyone loved them from the teachers to the students. I will definitely keep this recipe in mind for next year's Ball!
This was my first time making gingerbread men. This recipe is PERFECT, however -- I highly recommend skipping the refrigeration process. It's useless, as you have to wait for the dough to reach room temperature again to be able to work with it. Use it as is, roll it into a ball and cut out your shapes. If you have issues getting it off the counter, just use a spatula! Overall, this is the best gingerbread cookie I have ever had. Marvelous. And so cute!
Very easy. Very fun!
This recipe was a snap to make. My entire family enjoyed them. The Jell-O mix really gives them a new fresh taste. I found the dough very easy to workwith and it smelled wonderful. I will be making these next holiday season!
I have made these cookies for three years now. My picky five-year-old has loved them since I started making them. My hubby and I also love them. The dough was crumbly and I did knead ALOT but I may try adding the little bit of milk someone mentioned and see how that goes. But that alone won't deter me from making again. :)
The recipe is good. The dough is really hard to work with. it crumbles a lot. If this happens to you then wet your hands with a tiny bit of water and rub the dough. it works best in smaller portions and just squeeze the dough in your hands for little bit to loosen it up. Goodluck. I really liked the cookies, they came out great, but I think the recipe calls for a little too much flour.
I loved these cookies and everyone wanted the recipe. I didn't need to add any ingredients and the dough was easy to work with. If you don't like your cookies with a lot of spice, these are the cookies for you.
Great recipe! This is the best recipe I have tried for gingerbread people. My kids loving these chewy cookies- so does my husband!
