This may take the place of baked potatoes at our house. I made this dish the day before Thanksgiving and it was delicious. I did make a few changes. I added a little butter, salt and pepper to taste. And since some of the children would run from the onions on top. So I topped it with the bacon and a bit of cheese and a sprinkling of parsley.

Made this recipe the day before Thanksgiving. It not only cut down on late mashing of potatoes but it also had great flavor and loved by all.

I've also made this variation before. I've made it the day before and it has always worked out really well. Instead of using plain sour cream I used a light Onion dip this time and eliminated the onion powder.

I have made these potatoes for years. To get rid of the last minute mashing of potatoes - I fix the potatoes early morning and put them in my crockpot on low and it keeps them warm until we are ready to eat and there is no last minute rush.

So, are you saying to add the sour cream at the same time as the cream cheese?

I have made this type before except the bacon on it. It is delicious! For the person who asked what to do with the sour cream I believe you just add it. I usually use sour cream in mine and white horseradish as well.
