What You Need

oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

1/2

cup finely chopped cooked turkey or chicken

green onions, sliced

1/2

tsp. chopped fresh parsley

Salt and pepper

pkg. (17-1/4 oz.) frozen puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed

egg

Tbsp. milk

Make It

PREHEAT oven to 400°F. Mix cream cheese, turkey, onions and parsley until well blended. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

PLACE pastry sheets on cutting board. Cut out 22 circles from each pastry sheet, using a 2-inch round cutter. Beat egg and milk with wire whisk until well blended.

SPOON 1 tsp. of the turkey mixture onto center of each pastry circle. Brush edge of pastry with egg mixture. Fold pastry in half to completely enclose filling; press edges together to seal. Place on baking sheet; brush tops with remaining egg mixture.

BAKE 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve immediately.

Make Ahead

Assemble appetizers as directed but do not brush with egg mixture. Place in a freezer-weight resealable plastic bag. Remove excess air from bag and seal bag. Freeze up to 3 months. When ready to serve, remove appetizers from freezer and place in a single layer on baking sheet. Brush with egg mixture. Bake at 400°F for 15 to 17 minutes or until heated through and golden brown.

Special Extra

Use a fork to seal the pastry edges - it adds a decorative edge and prevents the filling from coming out.

I made the recipe using deli turkey which I think made it taste a bit odd. I would definitely make it again, probably without the turkey. I'd try maybe adding spinach and feta cheese for a spanikopita type dish. These were very easy to make and did get a lot of compliments! They look as if they take a lot of time and effort when they're actually super easy!!

Changed this up a bit by adding 1/4 cup bleu cheese...YUMMY! I din't use the egg & milk to seal the edges I simply pressed them closed, but brushed them with the egg/milk mixture before cooking to add a shine! Before cooking they looked like a crescent moon :) Served them for my book club and they were a hit! My new favorite appetizer!

This is something very easy to make & the whole family loved. I have experimented with different fillings, too. Fantastic!

This recipe is excellent! Make sure you don't stuff them too much or you will have trouble closing them. If you don't have a 2" circle cutter, use a champagne glass - it works great! I also found it easier to cut the dough when it was still a little frozen. Then wait until it thaws to close them together. The recipe says it makes 44, but I was only able to get 35 out of the dough in 2" circles. (There was some dough left that could have been rolled out, but I didn't want to hastle with it!). They were a hit for my party though!!!
