I made this and brought to work - everyone loved it! I used the raisins, and would only recommend that you go with 1 cup instead of 1/2 cup, especially for those who like raisins.... Great recipe!

I made this for my large Irish family on St. Patrick's Day, and everyone raved about it all night long. My mom even remarked that it tasted just like the soda bread my grandmother from Ireland used to make.

I've made this twice, both times came out great. (for those people who are not pleased with this recipe, are you sure you know what 'soda bread' is supposed to taste like?) i thought it was a good recipe, but both times I've added Crasins, too.

I made this recipe with a couple minor changes. I used spenda blend instead of the sugar and added a tiny bit more buttermilk. I also left off the sugar off the top. I found that it went together nicely and baked up to a golden brown. Very moist. My dinner quests though it was wonderful. Would I make it again? YES!

i had difficulty cutting the butter into the dry flour mixture, it did NOT resemble coarse crumbs, but overall it turned out well. you can omit the baking soda too and it has more flavor. try sprinkling the caraway seeds on top instead of mixing them in with the currants or raisins.

It was good, but it wasn't very sweet. It was still a bit heavy in the middle after the baking time.

This was the worst recipe of bread that I have ever made.

I read all the great reviews for this recipe so I tried it. The taste was horrible. The consistency was good, but it was definitely missing something. I would not make this again.

How does the calorie count and fat decrease when you substitue skim mils and light margarine?

This was the first time I had ever made soda bread and it was a huge hit. I loved it, and it was easy enough for my 6 yr old son to help me make it. I will certainly be making this one again.
