Living in Alaska makes it hard to find fresh asparagus. So I used the artichokes you can buy already marinated in a a jar. They give it more of a kick without being to over powering. They arent as crunchy, and all the flavors go very well together.

This is an excellent and elegant looking appetizer. It is so easy to make, almost no time in the kitchen. They do taste heavenly! I like to use flavored cream cheeses, such as chive or vegetable. Try it!

In the off season, try pickled asparagus or regular dill pickle spears! I've been eating these since I was little and still love them.

Another way to put a good twist on this is by substituting sliced pickles instead of asparagus. You can also use other meats such as turkey and my family loves these Cold. Its quick and easy. Good for family snacks or friendly get togethers.

Switch the asparagus for a green onion and you've got perfection! especially if you use a sweet ham, with the tang from the cream cheese and spiceiness from the green onion, YUM!! Definately a crowd pleaser.
