My mom makes these all the time and they are ridiculously good. Everyone loves them. I am planning on making them for my next party.
Per others' suggestions, I changed it up a little bit - I used just shy of 3 cups of Jiffy All Purpose baking mix, 4 cups of shredded NY Style Sharp Cheddar Cheese, and 1 lb of hot/spicy pork sausage. I only cooked them for 20 minutes, so they were more moist. I received LOTS of compliments and praises!
I made these as a Thanksgiving appetizer and I wasn't impressed. The flavor was still bland even after I added cayenne pepper and garlic. Maybe it wasnt enough but I did not want them too spicy. They turned out a little dry so my fiancee mixed a sauce together for dipping which made a huge difference. I also used regular pork sausage and extra cheese. Some wanted to take them home some didn't even try them. I guess it depends on the tastes of your guests.
I like to change things up sometimes and use maple flavored sausage. yum!
I made these and my family ate the entire batch of 100 and I had to make a new batch the same day!! I like to add a sprinkle of red pepper and garlic powder to the baking mix for a little kick.
Tasty, but can only eat a few at a time.
I read the comments before making this, so I altered the recipe. I cut the recipe in half except for the sausage (used country sausage). They were delicious and held their shape.
i'm not sure if i added too much of the all-purpose baking, but they didnt turn out very cheesy. they seemed more like balls of bread instead of sausage and cheese. next time i will use less all-purpose baking and hope they stick together. however, we all dipped them in buffalo chicken dip to make them a little more moist and that was delicious!
This is was a huge hit at a party I went to. I also chopped up 2 green onions, and added salt, pepper, and garlic powder for extra flavor.
I made these for a neighborhood cookout. Everyone asked for the recipe and they all want me to make at all of our get togethers. Also my hubby wouldn't let me take them all over there. He said he wanted a special stash just for himself. YUMMY!
