What You Need

baked 9-inch round white cake layers, cooled

cups boiling water

pkg. (3 oz. each) JELL-O Cherry Flavor Gelatin

tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

OREO Cookies, finely crushed (about 1/3 cup)

cups assorted bug- or worm-shaped chewy fruit snacks

Make It

PLACE cake layers, top-sides up, in 2 clean 9-inch round pans. Pierce cakes with large fork at 1/2-inch intervals.

ADD boiling water to gelatin mixes in small bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Pour over cake layers in pans. Refrigerate 3 hours.

DIP bottoms of cake pans in warm water 10 sec.; unmold. Fill and frost cake layers with COOL WHIP. Refrigerate 1 hour.

DECORATE cake with cookie crumbs and fruit snacks as desired. Use small birthday cake sparklers for candles on the cake for torches.

Cake layers can be baked weeks ahead and frozen. Thaw layers, then continue with recipe beginning with piercing the cake layers with fork.

Instead I've tried to make this cake with chocolate icing and starwberry and lime Jello. Not only did the cake look like an earthy cake but it tadted heavenly. ;)

I made this in a 9 x 13 pan, using strawberry jello, and more oreos than called for, for my 17 year old daughter's birthday. Put gummy worms and gummy insects on top. They thought it was VERY funny and LOVED it and it was easy and tasted great.

Hi, I made this cake for my niece on her birthday and everyone ate it all up! This was perfect since I have never really been an avid cook. I am making it for my daughter's 1st birthday. It will be a blast!!!!Thanks :)

i make this cake every year for my daughter now that she has given me two beautiful grandchildren i make this cake for them a family favorite only i make a 11by 13 and me dont like gummy candy. i use whipped cream for the frosting we have enjoyed this for over thirty years

My child and I have every friday aside for us to bake a treat for the family. She told me that she seen this recipe on TV and if we could make this on friday. So this is something that she can't wait to do.
