what you need

medium sweet potatoes, boiled, peeled and mashed

cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

1/2

cup sweetened condensed milk

1/4

cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine, melted

Tbsp. flour

tsp. ground cinnamon

1/2

tsp. ground nutmeg

eggs, slightly beaten

tsp. vanilla

unbaked 9-inch pastry shell

1-1/2

cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Make It

PREHEAT oven to 400°F. Mix sweet potatoes, sugar, milk, butter, flour, spices, eggs and vanilla in large bowl until blended.

POUR into pastry shell. (Shell will be quite full; filling will not rise over sides.)

BAKE 30 to 35 minutes or until top is puffed and browned. (Filling will be soft, but will set while cooling.) Cool on wire rack at least 2 hours. Serve each slice with 2 tablespoons whipped topping.

The pie was good but it was just too stiff and flat for me. I prefer my pie a bit more fluffy, the recipe could do without the flour.

My mom makes a good sweet potato pie, but I wanted to try and make one myself. This is the best sweet potato pie I've ever had.

Our family tried a new tradition at Thanksgiving...our first sweet potato pie! It was great, nice and creamy. I added a little more nutmeg and cinnamon. Everyone liked it so much, I'm making it today for Christmas! To make it easier, I bought the frozen pie crusts...they work great and are no hassle!

This sweet potato pie recipe is wonderful! I made 2 pies for my family before Thanksgiving and they were gone within a few days. So I made 2 more for Thanksgiving at my husband and children's request.Everyone else really enjoyed them also! I am very happy with this recipe!!

I just want to say that I made 2 pies for Thanksgiving and it was a huge hit, it was almost as good as my mothers. I could not keep my son out of it. I will make this pie again and again. Thank you so much for this recipe I looked high and low and yours simply was the best. Not only did my son enjoy it so did my guests, next time I will make more. Keep em coming!

Very good, but I should have cooked only 30-35 mins. Over cooked in my oven at 45 mins

This pie was a hit with my first grade class. We read a story called "Sweet Potato Pie" so I made this for the students. They loved it! I found that it needed to cook about 45 minutes to brown on top.

Made this for a friend that came home from the hospital and over heard him talking about it to other friends... it was the best sweet potato pie ever!
