i have made this soup many times but recently tried a variation by using toasted focaccia bread instead of french bread, it gave the soup a little added flavor from the seasonings on the focaccia bread.

This was easy to make and an excellent soup with plenty of flavor. For those who didn't like it, could it be your beef stock? I used beef bouillion cubes as I did not have canned beef broth. Everyone loved it! I will make this any chance I get!

This recipe was my first attempt ever at making French Onion Soup. The results were great. I used shredded mozzarella in place of the swiss cheese. The recipe was easy to follow and total prep time was quite acceptable. The taste was superb. Next time, I will try it with the swiss cheese.

I loved this soup. I made a booboo and got beef broth with vegtables; but it turned out wonderful. This is a keeper. Thanks for sharing.Edna

This soup had almost no flavor. If it were not for the cheese, it would have been one of the worst French Onion soups that I have ever had. If I were to make it again, I would have to change the recipe drastically. To those who do make it, add flavor (ie: salt, pepper, garlic, etc.)

This was sooo good! It was super easy to make and made the kitchen smell fantastic! I also added some chopped garlic to the onions, and instead of a whole bay leaf, I used chopped bay leaves. very good and already gave the recipe to my sister-in-law to try!
