What You Need

pkg. (2-layer size) yellow cake mix

1/2

pkg. (4-serving size) JELL-O Lime Flavor Gelatin (about 1/4 cup)

1/2

pkg. (4-serving size) JELL-O Lemon Flavor Gelatin (about 1/4 cup)

tub (12 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

Make It

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Prepare cake mix as directed on package. Divide batter between 2 medium bowls. Add 1/2 pkg. dry lime gelatin mix to 1 of the bowls and 1/2 pkg. dry lemon gelatin mix to remaining bowl; mix well. Pour into separate wax paper-lined greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans.

BAKE 28 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pans. Cool completely on wire racks.

PLACE lime cake layer on serving plate; spread top with 1 cup of the whipped topping. Top with lemon cake layer. Frost top and side of cake with remaining whipped topping. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Store leftover cake in refrigerator.

Creative Leftovers

Use leftover dry gelatin mixes to make Lemon-Lime JELL-O Gelatin. Mix together gelatins in medium bowl. Add 1 cup boiling water; stir until completely dissolved. Stir in 1 cup cold water. Refrigerate several hours or until set.

Substitute

Prepare as directed, using COOL WHIP LITE Whipped Topping.

I made this cake for my brother who was going away to school, he loved it and do did all the guests at his party. I have been asked for the recipe as well, and like I always tell someone who has enjoyed something that I have made, "I got it off www.kraftfoods.com.

I found this receipe two years ago in a magazine, I've been using it ever since! Everyone goes crazy for this cake everytime I make it.

I used berry blue & cherry Jell-o gelatin instead of lemon & lime. It was really good ( the kids picked the flavors). Next time I would suggest using white cake instead of the yellow, because obviously blue turns green when mixed with yellow!

1st made this recipe a couple of years ago-so glad to find it here! I plan to make it for Easter & couldn't remember exactly how to make it. Delicious, light dessert. Great hot-weather treat.

I MADE THE RECIPE FOR A FAMILY GET TOGETHER AND IT WAS A GREAT HIT. FOR CHRISTMAS I AM PLANNING ON USING LIME JELLO AND CHERRY.

My mother made this recipe in 1954 for the first time for a birthday cake for me. It was then called a "colorvision" cake. Mom made a strawberry cake, as I remember. Nice to see it's back. I made it for my first graders today in the form of cupcakes and I used orange jello and green jello, as those are of school's colors. Thanks!
