This was fun to make but a little messy getting the frosting on. I recommend using an pastry bag instead of a plasic one for the stripes. Ü
I used a butter pecan cake mix and the taste worked very well with this frosting. I took this cake to a Halloween party and it was a hit. I will definately make this again!!
I thought this cake was so cute, I just had to make it! I used a spice cake and it turned out great. It was very easy to make and I took it to my Thanksgiving dinner. I would suggest baking it the day before devouring it.
I LOVED this recipe! It's adorable and oh so easy. I don't think the icing is too sweet at all, but if you do make a carrot or spice cake to counteract the sweetness. YUMMY!!
I must agree that the frosting is very sweet. Will probably add more cream cheese next time. I filled a deep narrow custard cup 2/3 full with some of the cake batter and baked it for about 25 min. along with the bundt cake form. I then used that for the "stem" of the pumpkin and it fit just great into the hole of the cake. Grandkids though it was great fun to eat the green stem of a pumpkin.
The icing was so sweet it was almost inedible! If I made this again I would definitely adjust the recipe to have more sour cream and less powdered sugar, or perhaps I'd substitute a little plain flour or something. Of course my 3 year old daughter adored it. It was also very messy to ice, and she liked that too.
Nice and easy to make for a Halloween party. The cream cheese icing is especially good.
instead of buying a whole package of ice cream cones that we don't use, I used a dixie cup and iced that, worked great.
I made this recipe for a Pot Luck at work. Overall the whole process of making the recipe was easy; however, it did not go over very well. The icing was too sweet. I used a spice cake mix to try to help balance out some of the sweetness. I think I will use store bought icing if I ever make this again. Happy Cooking!
I made this cake twice first I sent one to my daughter& grandson in Texas they loved it, the green icing going down the cake I didn't have good sucess with it, but the orange icing worked good I baked the second one for friends and family day at church and used it as a center piece on the desert table huge sucess. I took 2 bundt pans and made the cake to make it more rounder the extra cake I cut off to make them even, I didn't run the green icing down the side on this one. I put it in the middle of the cake hole to hold the ice cream cone in place, It holds the cone in place better. I will make it again next year.
