Mashed Potato Layer Bake

One layer of creamy, cheesy deliciousness is good—but not good enough. So we made two. This mashed potato casserole will be the best-loved side at every holiday meal.

What You Need

3-1/4

lb. baking potatoes (about 9), peeled, chopped and cooked

1/2

lb. sweet potatoes (about 1 large), peeled, chopped and cooked

tub (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Chive & Onion Cream Cheese Spread

1/2

cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream

1/4

tsp. black pepper

1/4

cup KRAFT Shredded Parmesan Cheese

1/4

cup KRAFT Shredded Triple Cheddar Cheese with a TOUCH OF PHILADELPHIA

Make It

HEAT oven to 375°F.

PLACE potatoes in separate bowls. Add half each of the cream cheese spread, sour cream and pepper to each bowl; mash until potatoes are creamy.

STIR half the Parmesan into white potatoes, then stir half the cheddar into sweet potatoes. Layer half each of the potatoes in 2-qt. clear casserole. Repeat layers.

BAKE 15 min. Top with remaining cheeses; bake 5 min. or until melted.

Make Ahead

Assemble casserole as directed, but do not add the cheese topping. Refrigerate casserole and cheese topping separately up to 3 days. When ready to serve, bake casserole (uncovered) as directed, increasing baking time as needed until casserole is heated through. Top with remaining cheeses and continue as directed.

Substitute

Prepare using KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese.

The best....This is a perfect recipe for the holiday or any day..Now I have to triple the recipe because everyone loves it, even our twins and 4 year old...

This was one of the most flavorful dishes I have made . It was easy, and different, and a wonderful change from plain mashed potato's. I will definitely make it again. It was a big hit.

This is by far the best side dish I have made from the Kraftfoods website. I liked how the chive cream cheese and sweet potato and white potato tasted together and then the cheese. Man, this was a big hit for me and the family. I also made the Dijon chicken and double layer pumpkin cheese cake. It was a wonderful meal.

I was a little nervous to try a new recipe and I was cooking for a lot of people but everyone really liked it, one girl even told me that she wanted a copy of the recipe. Next time I might add crumbled bacon just to try.

I had never tasted sweet potatoes before so I dedided to make this recipe and it didn't taste that great to me. If you love sweet potatoes then this recipe is the one.
