i skip the cheese and cored completely. i alternated brown sugar and butter on the inside of the apples and baked them. awesome with vanilla ice cream and caramel.

I had never heard of baked apples with cheese. I was plesantly suprised, though I think I prefer my mother's old fashioned red hots to the cheese. The rasins really added great flavor.

This was interesting. I think it's probably great for kids...good, healthy snack. I did it as more of a dessert type thing but found that it really doesn't qualify too much for a dessert (at least not in my mind).

It is now October and this is a great autumn recipe, loved it!

Loved the recipe - although I use only Granny Smith apples for baking desserts, I only used Rome apples for Baked Apples.

I agree with the others, the red apples were the best. The cheese was terrible. I tried it again and used the following: Brown sugar - pecans - butter It made a caramel type sauce and topped it with cool whip.......no cheese.

I made this recipe twice. The first time I used Granny Smith apples (tart apples). It was okay. Kids loved the sweet, tart taste. Second time I tried red sweet apples, VERY GOOD. Easy to do. My kids thought it was neat!

Made last night did not care for it,used maple crunch granola instead. Apples took a while longer werer not soft enought! Maybe wrong kind of apples but very dry.
