Chicken Tortilla Soup

A Southwestern cousin of mom’s chicken soup, this one has a little more kick with a crispy topping. And, like its best-loved relative, it’ll make you feel good all over.

What You Need

corn tortillas (6 inch), divided

1-1/2

tsp. oil, divided

1/2

lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces

cans (14-1/2 oz. each) chicken broth

cup TACO BELL® Thick & Chunky Medium Salsa

cup frozen corn

cup KRAFT Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Make It

HEAT oven to 400°F.

CUT 2 tortillas into strips; toss with 1/2 tsp. oil. Spread in single layer on baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 min. or until crisp, stirring occasionally.

MEANWHILE, finely chop remaining tortillas. Heat remaining oil in large saucepan on medium-high heat. Add chicken; cook and stir 5 min. Add chopped tortillas, broth, salsa and corn. Bring to boil; simmer on medium-low heat 15 min.

SERVE topped with cheese and tortilla strips.

Loved it! I bought the tortillas and put them on the top of soup with sour cream and cheese. I also put black beans in the soup. My family loves it!

Suprisingly good... very easy to make and tasty. Used store bought whole grain tortilla chips and crushed them in a ziploc bag. I simmered my soup for a few minutes longer and it all blended very well. Definetly will make again!

My husband and I both really liked this recipe. It was sort of spicy for my younger sons, but they did eat a small amount. Will do again :)

There isn't a better-tasting, easy-to-make soup than this recipe makes. I've made it twice. The first time I followed the recipe exactly; however, the second time, I skipped the tortillas in the soup. Instead, I topped it with the baked tortillas. We didn't like "mushy" torillas in the soup the first time.

OMG!!! It is sooo good! Have made it a few times and everyone asks me to make it for them. I like to top it off with Sour Cream and Avocado. Very Yummy!!

We love this soup when we go out to eat so I was really looking forward to finding the "right" recipe for it to make at home. This was good, but my family did not like the tortillas that were cooked in the soup, they were too mushy. We used regular tortilla chips to add to it and those were much better. It was still a good recipe, not quite like a restaraunt though.

I just made this for the first time tonight and loved it! It is very good and so easy to make! I hadn't had chicken tortilla soup in a pretty long time, so I have nothing to compare it to - I'm sure there are better recipes with more ingredients but as easy and inexpensive as this is to make, I was very surprised at how good it is. Will definitely make it again!

This was good. I have had better but it used twice as many ingradients and was expensive to make.

The size of the tortilla is unknown so when I made it, there were waaaaay too many tortillas and it was too thick. Not to mention the tortilla's became saturated in broth and became very soggy. Would NOT make again.
