Chicken Tortilla Soup recipe

A Southwestern cousin of Mom’s chicken soup, this one has a kick with a crispy topping. And, like its popular relative, it’ll make you feel good all over.

I love tortilla soup, and thought might as well give htis one a try. It was pretty good. I added the whole 16 oz jar of salsa to make it a bit more spicy. I then added a few drops of Franks Hot Sauce to my bowl! It tasted so much better this way! I also just crushed already made tortilla chips instead of cutting and baking. In addition I also bought a rotisserie chicken, instead of baking one to save time! It was a huge hit:)

The soup was great, had good flavor my husaband and kids liked it too.The only troublr I had was the baking the tortilla strips. They came out either over cooked or under cooked. So we ate the soup without the tortillas.Any suggestions?

I added a spoonful of sour cream on top of the cheese and it was delicious! I didn't care for baking your own tortilla strips, next time I will use store bought tortilla chips to make it even easier!

this soup is restaurant quality. it is fantastic! (i would not cheat on the tortilla strips as i believe cooking them yourself is what makes this soup extra special.)
