I made this last week...my husband and I loved it. I used swiss cheese and garlic croutons and it was amazing!!

I made my own croutons with three thick slices of pumpernickel cut into cubes then mixed with 2T Kraft Free Italian dressing and 1T dijon mustard and baked for about 15-20 min at 350 degrees. YUM. These homemade croutons would be good on a spinach salad too.

It was a pretty good soup. I would recomend using it as a side dish with a beef dinner. I also think next time I make this dish I will be using Swiss Cheese instead so eliminate some of the strong salt flavor.

I def used less onions and used worcestershire sauce instead of A1. I also added a little red wine and ground pepper.

I agree with the others who said this is a good starting point. I added less of the steak sauce, a dash of worcestershire sauce, a dash of red wine, fresh garlic with the onions and fresh ground pepper. I also prefer the swiss cheese. But this gave me a great place to start and then I adjusted until it tasted the way I wanted it to!

I am a huge fan of French Onion Soup, but always hesitated until I found this easy recipe. I used fat free whole grain croutons and it still tasted wonderful..

I think this was surprisingly good! I had my doubts, I mean really soup with only onions! But it was good! I used worceshershire (or how ever you spell that) instead of steak sauce. I will make this again. My husband also liked it.
