It was a pretty good soup. I would recomend using it as a side dish with a beef dinner. I also think next time I make this dish I will be using Swiss Cheese instead so eliminate some of the strong salt flavor.

I def used less onions and used worcestershire sauce instead of A1. I also added a little red wine and ground pepper.

This was good, but I would definitley alter it to my tastes.

I agree with the others who said this is a good starting point. I added less of the steak sauce, a dash of worcestershire sauce, a dash of red wine, fresh garlic with the onions and fresh ground pepper. I also prefer the swiss cheese. But this gave me a great place to start and then I adjusted until it tasted the way I wanted it to!

I am a huge fan of French Onion Soup, but always hesitated until I found this easy recipe. I used fat free whole grain croutons and it still tasted wonderful..

I think this was surprisingly good! I had my doubts, I mean really soup with only onions! But it was good! I used worceshershire (or how ever you spell that) instead of steak sauce. I will make this again. My husband also liked it.

While this was delicious, I didn't use the steak sauce because it just sounded a little weird, and plus we didn't have any. Instead I used 1 beef bouillon cube. Next time I make this I'll use only 2 1/2 onions and I will make sure to slice them very very thinly since some of them were slightly crunchy, not like the restaurant soups. Also, it took me almost an hour and 15 minutes, not 33 minutes like it suggests, to complete this because it was impossible for me to sautee all of the onions at once in one pan. Other than that this was quite tasty and would recommend it if you have some time on your hands.

The first time i made this i used the recommended amount of steak sauce. The second time around, i used half the amount of steak sauce and it tasted a lot better than the first time. Excellent recipe to warm you up from the bitter cold!
