This is my son's favorite "quick" dinner. I would make it before he left for school and go about my day. He still loves it now that he is all grown up. I have never made it with BBQ sauce. Seems strange to be sweet and sour with BBQ sauce. I don't think they taste anything alike.
my kids did not enjoy!
I have made this recipe several times. My whole family loves it! Very easy to make, too.
Wow! I have made this recipe twice--both times, I used chicken instead of pork (because I typically have it on hand), frozen onions (because there are not enough hours in the day), minute rice, and have skipped the green peppers. Both times, it has come out amazing. I don't know if I'm just not as picky as some of the other reviewers, but I didn't notice any problems with the rice--with my crazy schedule, this beats frozen pizza hands-down :-)
was very good. loved the hawaiian flavor of the pineapple. will not cook rice as long next time. will make again.
I really like the flavor of the pineapple in this Hawaiian-style dish. Maybe for some crunch, I will toss in some peanuts next time.
Didn't much care for this recipe rice was mushy. If I do try it again will cook rice in rice pot and add at the very end.
I thought this was really good. I changed a lot of the recipie to make it my own though. I didn't use the crock pot and omitted the peppers. I also accidently used 2 1/3 cups of bbq sauce but it turned out good anyway. I'll be making this again.
used 1 1/2 cans broth, < 3/4 cup of BBQ sauce, (most of the) pineapple juice, a few shakes of ground ginger, 2 green peppers, 2 cups brown rice... braised meat before placing in crock pot and cooked for only 6 hours, then added brown rice, peppers, ginger and pineapple/juice, and cooked for ~35 min. Was juicy and tasty- will make again
It looked a lot better than what it was. Just not much flavor. Can find better ways to fix pork loin.
