EAST TO MAKE, AND A BIG HIT AT THE PARTY. I WOULD LIKE MORE SPICE BUT THIS FIT WELL IN MIXED COMPANY. I PREMIXED TOPPING AND PLACED IN FRIDGE TILL READY TO BAKE, BREAD HAD TOASTED EDGES, SOFT BUT NOT SOGGY UNDERNEATH THE TOPPING.

I would make this again, but use crisper bread. My bread was fresh and seemed to be soggy after cooking. I would also add some more flavor, like with Old Bay seasoning. Make sure and get the mixture to the edge of each piece to avoid burnt edges. I do think letting the flavors mix in the bowl would make it taste better. Still, it was very easy.

I doubled this recipe and there still was nothing left at the end. Next time I thought of throwing a dash of seasoning to spice it up.

This was so wonderful, my husband and father begged me to make some for breakfast/brunch the next morning. Their wish was my command, and I was told that the canapes were even better the next day after they had "marinated" in the sauce overnight. I plan to make this again soon for adinner club party, where I am sure this recipe will get more rave reviews!
