JELL-O Poke Cake

This cake has seen its share of birthdays, holidays, and company parties, and it's always greeted with a "wow!" Surprise 'em at your next gathering with this classic.

what you need

Take 2 cups boiling water, 1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed, and mix & match your recipe from these options...

	cake layer options	JELL-O Gelatin choices
	white cake	Strawberry
	yellow cake	Berry Blue
	spice cake	Orange
	chocolate cake	Cherry

Then follow our 3 simple steps:

PLACE 2 baked 9-inch round cake layers, top side up, each in clean 9-inch round cake pan. Pierce cakes with large fork at 1/2-inch intervals.

STIR boiling water into 2 pkg. (4-serving size each) JELL-O Gelatin in medium bowl at least 2 min. until completely dissolved. Carefully pour gelatin evenly over cake layers. Refrigerate 3 hours.

DIP one of the cake pans in warm water 10 sec.; unmold onto serving plate. Spread with about 1 cup of the whipped topping. Unmold second cake layer; carefully place on first cake layer. Frost top and side of cake with remaining whipped topping. Refrigerate at least 1 hour or until ready to serve. Decorate as desired. Store leftover cake in refrigerator.

Special Extra

For colored frosting, gently stir a few drops food coloring into COOL WHIP Whipped Topping.

Chocolate Hearts

Drizzle melted BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate onto wax paper in a heart shape. Refrigerate 5 min. to set. Gently peel and use for garnish.

Substitute

Prepare as directed, using COOL WHIP LITE Whipped Topping.

I have made this type of cake many times in a 9X13 inch cake pan. It is so easy that way and delicious! The layered method is nice for a party or special occassion when you don't mind taking a little extra time.

I made this cake for Superbowl Sunday and everyone liked it. It was very easy to prepare. I usually make cakes from scratch, but I used a cake mix; it was light and fluffy. I prepared it with white cake and cherry jello. I did make my own whipped cream, I think it came out a lot better than using whipped topping.

Iv'e made this cake several ways & take it to work it is a big hit. Lemon is supeb i use lemon jello for cake then top the top with lemon pie filling superb.I also make a rainbow cake with several types of jello grandkids love it.

Very easy to make and a hug hit!! I have made this cake many times with different jello combinations. It was delicious and very moist!

Easy and delicious, and did not consume much time or effort. It is so interchangeable with colors, tastes, presentation. Very useful and delicious.

I've made this recipe for years during the holidays. I use white cake.rasberry jello with one layer and lime jello with the other. The two flavors are very good together.....very festive looking. My whole family loves "The Christmas Cake".

I have made this for my sons birthday for many years, only I use a lemon cake and make one layer with lime jello the other with cherry. It's not as sweet as with a regular cake. This is great for Christmas too.

This is very easy to make and looks nice when cut. I have also used lemon cake and lemon jello...very tasty.
