Rustic Onion Tart

Very easy to make and gives a nice presentation. Delicious and was one of the top favorites of the seven appetizers, that I made for our Christmas dinner.

What You Need

large onion, thinly sliced

slices OSCAR MAYER Bacon, chopped

ready-to-use refrigerated pie crust (1/2 of 14.1-oz. pkg.)

pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

1/4

cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream

1/2

cup KRAFT Shredded Swiss Cheese

Make It

COOK onions and bacon in skillet on medium-high heat 10 to 12 min. or until onions are tender, stirring frequently.

HEAT oven to 400°F. Unroll pie crust on baking sheet. Mix cream cheese and sour cream; spread onto crust. Spoon onion mixture onto center of crust, leaving 2-inch border. Sprinkle with Swiss cheese. Fold border over filling, leaving opening in center and pleating crust as necessary to fit.

BAKE 12 to 15 min. or until crust is lightly browned. Cool slightly.

Special Extra

For a touch of sweetness, add 1 Tbsp. orange marmalade to cooked onion mixture before spooning over cream cheese mixture on pie crust.

This recipe was very good. I would make some adjustments such as more onions and swiss cheese and maybe add some black olives.

I made this for two occassions, for a family birthday and for a football party...EVERYONE loved it, including the little ones. Will definitely make this again! Only thing I did differently was to add a touch of olive oil and garlic powder to the onions as they sauteed!

YUM! This is one of the best Ive tried. I suggest that you use a sweet onion to make it. Also I added more Swiss cheese to the cream cheese and sour cream. Cooking is about half an hour. I plan on serving this dish at every function I have or invited to. Thanks

OH MY GOSH! This is wonderful! I can't wait to make it again, maybe add mushrooms. It took about twice as long to bake than the recipe said but I don't care. GREAT RECIPE! I put the Swiss cheese with the cream cheese and sour cream and then put a bit on top too.

I had this appetizer at a party, and I couldn't believe that it wasn't from a catering company! It was so good! I could have eaten the entire thing!
