not much flavor. too much trouble for not much taste.
I liked this quick recipe. I had used my can of cream of potato soup, so I used cream of onion instead, & it was a good option. My husband liked it better w/out cheese. Will make again.
This recipe is great!!! Made a great meal on a cold night, along with the Easy Bake Cheddar Biscuits.
Easy enough to make. I read reviews by others before making this soup & decided to use 32 oz box of chicken stock & no water. I also used 1 cup of half & half rather than milk since we like creamer soups. I used instant brown rice, frozen broccoli & placed cheese in soup after I used an imersion blender to puree it. Soup was not very flavorful. Added garlic salt and bacon bits which improved the flavor a lot. Next time I'll sautee minced garlic along with onion & add fresh bacon crumbles as a garnish.
The prep time and total time on this recipe are not correct. There was no flavor and no matter how much blending, it did not come out smooth or yellow (as shown in the picture), the soup was green. This is the first recipe from Kraft that I did not like, can't win them all.
This is great! One tip though - use a submersible hand blender instead of making a huge mess transferring and pureeing in a blender.
I add some Velveeta to it to make it cheesier--and flour to thicken it up. Substituting potatoes for the rice is a nice change, as well as adding carrots to it. For my family, the cheesier the better.
Nice easy recipe.
Making again tonight. After reading the reviews I decided to add the beef broth and always extra cheese. My whole family really liked it.
This is the greatest soup! I use one can of chicken broth, one of beef and only one can of water. The beef adds great flavor. To cut down on prep time, I use frozen broccoli. I also use brown rice to cut out a few carbs and add cooked chicken and corn for more protein and vitamins. Since it all goes through the blender anyway, no one is the wiser. Also freezes very well. This was a wonderful thing to have on hand after I had a few teeth pulled- very warm and comforting. Highly recommended!!
