My family loves this recipe. However, the original recipe in the magazine states to remove 1/4 ( not 3/4 ) of the potatoes and mash them. This gives it more the feel of scalloped potatoes.

This recipe was wonderful!! I will definitely make it again and again!! The only thing I did differently was add some small pieces of crunchy fried bacon which tasted great!!

Made this multiple times. When mashing potatoes & adding sour cream, I ALSO add Parsley, Seasoned Salt, White Pepper and Garlic powder to taste. I flavors up the base a bit. Used cubed ham, lite sour cream. Cooked at 365 for 35 minutes and had NO problem with the Velveeta melting. Love it!

This was an AWESOME recipe! We are making it without the ham as a side-dish for our Thanksgiving dinner. It's a keeper!

We loved this recipe. It does take a little longer than I expected for prep work but is well worth it. I doubled the amount of ham in the recipe and would recommend others do so too. I choopped up 2 fresh jalapenos that I had sitting around and tossed them in before putting it in the oven, it gave it a nice flavor and a little extra kick. It makes a large amount of food and it's so filling and rich, I can see how this would be great for a large family. We'll definetly make this again.
