Use caution when slicing the potatoes. Make sure that they are thin slices otherwise it can take up to an hour and a half to bake. I made the mistake of slicing my potatoes a little too thick and the bake time for me was 1hr:30min. I also doubled my cream sauce because I like mine creamy! But overall it's a delish dish that the family loves!

Big hit with everyone. I added garlic, dried minced onion, S&P to the mix. Also used a full 16oz block of velveeta. We had cooked broccoli on the side which went very well with it..

The only thing I would change is use shredded cheese instead of velveeta

Made this last night and LOVED IT! Beware that it is a lot of prep work but very worth it in the end. Also beware that it has a very rich taste. I mashed slightly less than 3/4 of the potatoes as I wanted to preserve the scalloped potato "feel"; and when I mashed them I left them creamy but lumpy to preserve some of the texture also. I took the suggestions and added some shredded cheese on top as well. We are a family of four and had plenty of leftovers. Definitely a thumbs up for me!

This dish was very tastey. I would make this recipe again but with a couple of adjustments. First off I think there were too many onions and less meat. So I would reduce the amount listed and add maybe a quarter more meat.

I cut the recipe in half but used the full amount of ham and served it as a main course. I also used regular Idaho potatoes. Everyone in my family loved it, even my daughter who sometimes doesn't like potatoes!!

Already made this a couple times, and again a fave between the fiance and kids. Very delicious, and great comfort food. I found I didn't need quite as many potatoes, or onions. I used only two onions, and think that's plenty. Also, putting the mix with cheese in the pot used to cook potatoes helps the cheese melt more. Do this while you prepare onions. A helpful tip, use cubed ham. Less prep work and still great!
