Already made this a couple times, and again a fave between the fiance and kids. Very delicious, and great comfort food. I found I didn't need quite as many potatoes, or onions. I used only two onions, and think that's plenty. Also, putting the mix with cheese in the pot used to cook potatoes helps the cheese melt more. Do this while you prepare onions. A helpful tip, use cubed ham. Less prep work and still great!
I think this would have been better with 8 to 12 oz of light sour cream instead of 16 oz of fat free sour cream. 16 oz of sour cream was too much. It also needs more ham.
It was okay. Fiance did not like it. I would not make it again.
I mad this for Thanksgiving last year for the 1st time and I received so many compliments. I left out the ham and added shredded cheese. This was great!
This is the second time I'm making this dish and it's amazing! My family thinks it's better than when you have to make the sauce! I found that it works better if you mash the potatoes in the pot you cooked it in, mix in the sour cream and cheese then cover it while you chop the onions and ham, it really helps the velvetta melt!
Very good. I actually over cooked the potatoes and forgot the sour cream and it was still good. I had lots of left overs. Would be perfect for a pot luck
I made this for dinner last night. Everyone enjoyed it especially me. I love potatoes, cheese, and sour cream in the first place and this just brought all those things together. I served it with some mandrin oranges and garlic toast and it was the perfect balance.
Horrible...not one of my four kids would eat it...a variation of cheesy potatoes that is a bad imitation.
we enjoyed this very much, and so easy to make.
This recipe was fairly simple, inexpensive and absolutely delicious!! I made this for a gathering, everyone had seconds and packed a to go box. this one gets 5 stars!!!!
