THIS IS NOT SHEPHERD'S PIE, IT IS MORE LIKE HAMBURGER PIE.SHEPHERD'S IS MADE WITH LAMB OR MUTTON,AND HAS ONLY ONIONS, GREEN PEAS GRAVY AND MASHED POTATOES. HAMBURGER PIE, HAS GROUND BEEF, CANNED MIXED VEG, AND TOMATOE SOUP, WITH MASHED POTATOES, AND NO CHEESE. USING FROZEN VEG ALTHOUGH IT IS THAWED IT STILL CONTAINS A LOT OF WATER, THE BROTH WITH KETCHUP IS TOO THIN TO MAKE A GOOD GRAVY, I USE PROGRESSO TOMATOE BASIL SOUP, WHICH ADDS TASTE AS WELL AS BEING THICKER THAN BROTH. JUST A QUESTION: WHY DO AMERICANS PUT CHEESE ON EVERYTHING?

I add onions to the potatoes as they're boiling and also to the meat. I also use gravy flour, not baking flour and add salt and pepper to meat mixture while browning. Using cheddar and parmesan or Grana Padana cheese also amps up the flavor a bit.

Actually, my 15 year old daughter has made this twice for our family. She did decide to reduce the amount of garlic the second time. Everyone loved it and there were NO LEFTOVERS!!

Very good, especially with the homemade mash potatoes, however I felt the gravy should have been thicker and in greater quantity.

I doubled the amount of potatoes and seasoned the ground beef with a grill seasoning mix. It was delicious!

It was bland. After a couple bites I added some Soy Sauce & that helped. Otherwise it was a good recipe to get the veggies in for the kids. If I do make this recipe again it was be with alot of seasoning alterations.

This was delicious, filling, creamy, and loved by the whole family! We'll tuck this recipe away for many more uses.
