After reading everyones reviews, I ended up tweeking this somewhat. I made the dough and baked it before I added the toppings. I used about 1/2 can of beans, heated them and added taco sauce and a tiny bit of cheese to it, and used this as the first layer. I did not buy a taco kit, I just added a pack of seasoning and taco sauce to the meat, and then spread that over the beans. From there I added the cheese and baked it until the cheese was melted. When I served it I topped it with the lettuce and tomatoes but no shells. I also had sour cream on the side. Overall it was really good.
