Easy Layered Cabbage Casserole

Casseroles are easy. Stuffing cabbage is hard. In this recipe, you get stuffed cabbage flavor with casserole simplicity. (You're welcome!)

What You Need

cups shredded cabbage (about 1 large head)

onions, chopped

1/4

cup KRAFT Zesty Italian Dressing

lb. extra-lean ground beef

cups instant brown rice, uncooked

cans (10-3/4 oz. each) reduced-sodium condensed tomato soup

soup cans water

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

COOK and stir cabbage and onions in dressing in large skillet on medium heat 5 to 10 min. or until tender. Remove from skillet.

BROWN meat in same skillet. Stir in rice, soup and water until blended. Layer 1/3 of the cabbage mixture and half the meat mixture in 13x9-inch baking dish. Repeat layers; top with remaining cabbage mixture. Cover.

BAKE 1 hour.

How to Easily Shred Cabbage

Quarter a head of cabbage, then cut away the core. Stack the leaves and cut crosswise into thin strips.

A 1-lb. head of cabbage will yield 3-1/2 to 4 cups of shredded cabbage.

I made this recipe for dinner and my family loved it, but I thought it could use alittle more taste but they all said it was fine.. I added alittle shredded cheese on top... I will make this recipe atleast once a month or so... thanks!

I REALLY liked this casserole. It is pretty easy and even my picky son liked it. I did drain the hamburger before mixing in the other ingredients. I also only had one can of tomato soup, so I used a can of tomato sauce and only one can of water. It was great!

We also add a pound of spicy pork sausage and some crushed red pepper. It makes an excellent meal in our house the year round.

I also added garlic and italian seasoning and added about 1/4 cup of vinegar. This made all the difference. My family loved it.

My family is picky and they just loved it. I did do some subing, I added garlic, a big can of Sphagetti Sauce, (any flavor), oregano, basil and parsley, used 1 onion. This is a regular in our household.
