I made the soup just as it is stated. As noted by others, it was more thin than the photo would lead you to think. My fix, I added one half cup of instant rice at the end. Cooked a few more minutes to allow it to absorb some of the liquid and it was perfect. Salt and pepper to taste and garnished with fresh parsley. Everyone loved it.
This soup is now on a regular rotation at my house. I have made a few changes though. Instead of turkey I use chicken. I put chunks of chicken in a crockpot and season with Cavender's (all purpose Greek seasoning) and 1/2 a can of chicken broth and let that cook all day. I think this adds a ton of flavor to the soup. I pretty much follow the recipe the rest of the way. Sometimes I add regular corn too. I sprinkle shredded cheese on top and sometimes eat with tortilla scoops. It is definitely one of my favorites!
I made this the other night and it was really kids loved it. I added potatoes instead of turkey and it was still good. I will try it with turkey the next time I make it but it also works as a great vegetable chowder. I did have little flecks of the cream cheese throughout the soup, I might not have let it melt enough before adding everything else.
I first made this recipe years ago from a recipe calendar I got from kraft. Then I lost it and have been looking for the recipe ever since (I searched 'chowder' instead of soup). I make it with a splash of wine added to the onions/peppers - it is delicious!
Great option for leftover turkey - I used the leg meat no one in our family will usually eat and they gobbled it down! I used green pepper instead of red this time but I think it would be better with the red pepper.
YUM! This was sooooo good! I am not much of a cook, and I have a really picky eater. That usually spells disaster if I try to make something. However, I used the leftover turkey, followed the recipe and the comments on here and added extra corn and some garlic and salt...and it was DELICIOUS! My son is at the stove getting seconds right now! Thanks for this simple and tasty soup!
much thinner and sweeter than I like in a soup - the picture makes it looks so creamy and hearty
Very good soup!! I made a few changes..used only 1 cup Chicken broth, 1/2 cup Milk and 1/4 cup heavy cream and about 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Added just the right kick. Also, I used a rotisserie chicken. Awesome, will definetly make again.
My husband and I LOVE this soup! I've made it several times and each time it's a definite winner! I've also used chicken instead of turkey and it's just as good! Way to go, Kraft!!!!!
