Hidden Treasure Cake

I make this for my Mom on her birthday and she loves it. She's diabetic and I used sugar free products. It's really easy to make and very good.

what you need

Take 1 prepared (10 oz.) angel food cake, 1/2 cup boiling water, 1-1/2 cups thawed Cool Whip Whipped Topping and mix & match your recipe from these options...

	Jell-O Brand Gelatin options	fruit choices
	Strawberry	1 cup chopped strawberries, divided
	Orange	1 can (11 oz.) mandarin orange segments, drained, divided
	Lemon	1 cup blueberries, divided
	Lime	1 cup raspberries, divided

Then follow our 3 simple steps:

PLACE cake on serving plate. Cut 3/4-inch-thick horizontal slice from top of cake using a serrated knife; set aside. With small knife, cut 1-inch wide and 1-inch deep tunnel inside center of cake; being careful not to cut through. Remove and save cutout for snack.

STIR boiling water into 1 pkg. (4-serving size) dry Jell-O Brand Gelatin in bowl 2 min. until dissolved. Add enough cold water to 1/2 cup ice to measure 3/4 cup; stir into gelatin until completely melted. Remove 1/2 cup of the gelatin mixture and place in separate medium bowl. Add whipped topping; stir with wire whisk until well blended. Refrigerate 10 to 15 min. or until thick enough to spread.

MEANWHILE, refrigerate remaining plain gelatin 5 to 10 min. or until thickened. Stir in 3/4 cup of the fruit; spoon into tunnel of cake. Replace top of cake. Frost cake with reserved thickened whipped topping and gelatin mixture. Garnish top with remaining fruit.

This is an easy to follow. We have tried several variations, including Pineapple chuncks and Pinapple Jello Strawberries and strawberry Jello Orange Manderine pieces with Orange Jello. All were a hit and with a family of Diabetics it was great to see all those smiles.

I recently made this cake for an Easter celebration. It was a huge hit and everyone wanted to know how I got the fruit inside! Excellent dessert!

I made this cake along with 2 others for my child's birthday party, and this cake was more of a hit than the others. My husband is diabetic, so I made it with sugar free jello and it was fantastic. I made the strawberry one with strawberry cool whip. Just great.

Excellent and refreshing! I made it for Easter and had no left overs. I used the Strawberry choice. It was great!!!

Awesome! I made this cake for Easter and it was a big hit! I made it using Strwberry/Bannana jello and fresh strawberries. It was easy. It not only looked awesome, but the taste was out of this world. The whole cake was gone in a matter of minutes. Everyone came straight back for seconds. There was no leftovers! I will definately make it again!

I recommend using regular Jello instead of Sugar-free. The artificial sweetner takes away from what's supposed to be a light,refreshing,springtime treat. I also tried it with chocolate pudding. Nice twist!

I made the one with blueberries and lemon Jello. You need to add food coloring and lemon flavor to the Cool Whip and Jello for the icing to give it a little color and taste.
